Maths Vision

At Elizabeth Selby Infant school, we want children to understand the importance maths has and ensure children have the skills and knowledge to equip them for everyday life.

At Elizabeth Selby Infants’ School, we follow White Rose Maths scheme, we believe this allows children to obtain a good level of fluency but also the ability to manipulate number, solve problems and think creatively about maths in order to apply their skills to new and challenging contexts. The children will gain an understanding of the number system, a range of computational skills and an ability to interpret and solve problems. They will also have the opportunity to acquire a range of practical skills in measuring, weighing, using money and telling the time. Where possible we link our maths with our creative curriculum and real life experiences.

We are aware that children have varied learning styles and we understand the importance of taking maths outside the classroom. All children use a variety of resources to support their learning.
