EYFS
At Elizabeth Selby Infant School, we are proud of the strong start our children make in the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS). Our Nursery and Reception provision is designed to ensure that all children develop the key skills, knowledge, and confidence they need to succeed as they move through school.
We focus on the prime areas of learning—communication and language, personal, social and emotional development, and physical development—alongside early literacy, mathematics, and understanding of the world. Through high-quality teaching, purposeful play, and rich learning experiences, children make strong progress from their individual starting points.
Our aim is for every child to leave EYFS as a confident, curious, and independent learner who is well prepared for the next stage of their education in Year 1.
Progress and attainment are regularly monitored to ensure that all children are supported and challenged appropriately, and that any additional needs are identified early and acted upon.
