Art Vision

At Elizabeth Selby Infant School, we encourage children to express themselves through art with a wealth of experience, and range of materials to create products and share their ideas via drawing, painting and sculpture. Children will learn how to communicate their opinion on a range of artists and their creative styles children will have fun learning about artists through history.

At Elizabeth Selby Infants’ School, we want all children to enjoy a rich variety of art experiences and activities. We aim to provide opportunities for pupils to observe and learn about the world they live in; to develop creative and technical skills and the ability to articulate and communicate ideas and feelings about their own work and that of others. Each child should be given the opportunity to become visually literate and to value the contribution made by artists, craft workers and designers of many kinds, from many cultures, from the past and present. It is vital that children are given opportunities to comment on and interpret a range of artistic works, articulating their personal responses and drawing parallels. Through deeper understanding, pupils can gain access to cultural richness and diversity. The appreciation and enjoyment of the visual arts enriches all our lives.
