Safeguarding

Welcome to the Safeguarding page for Elizabeth Selby Infants’ School. My name is Joseph Howard, and I am the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) for our school.

At Elizabeth Selby Infants’ School, we are committed to ensuring that all children, staff, and visitors are safe, supported, and happy during their time with us. Safeguarding is at the heart of everything we do, as we believe that children can only learn and thrive when they feel safe and secure.

If you have any concerns relating to a child’s welfare or safety, please speak to one of our Safeguarding Officers:

Joseph Howard Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL)
Fabién Reid

Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) / Deputy DSL

Karen Breen

Deputy DSL
Oliver Hopwood Governor with responsibility for safeguarding

Safeguarding our children from harm is our highest priority. The role of the safeguarding team is to support the welfare of all children in the school and to ensure that all staff understand and fulfil their responsibility to keep children safe.

The Designated Safeguarding Lead and Deputy DSLs work together to safeguard children by:

  • Listening to and responding to concerns raised by children, parents, staff, visitors, and governors
  • Listening carefully to the views and experiences of children
  • Processing information and making appropriate referrals when necessary
  • Keeping accurate and secure records of concerns and actions taken
  • Working in partnership with external agencies, including Social Services, where appropriate
  • Offering and coordinating support for children and families when needed
  • Providing guidance and training to staff to ensure the best outcomes for children

Joe and Fabién are available on the playground or at the school gate before and after school each day. Alternatively, you can contact them via the school office on 020 7739 6187 or by email at admin@elizabethselby.towerhamlets.sch.uk.

We are committed to ensuring that all children, staff, and members of our school community feel safe, valued, and welcomed at Elizabeth Selby Infants’. We always welcome feedback if you feel there are ways we can improve further.
